Social Innovation Labs of Cienfuegos: Advances and Challenges of the Connection University-Society-Government

OUTLINE: Enhancing the social impact of the university-society-governance link in Cienfuegos is a pioneering initiative that the Carlos Rafael Rodríguez University of Cienfuegos has been undertaking over the past four years as part of the modernization of its science, technology, and innovation system. In this session, the author intends to share the progress and challenges on one of the components in this project--- the Social Innovation Laboratories (CIENlabS). The Laboratories project is an innovative concept designed to stimulate the sensitivity, commitment, and innovative spirit of students and faculty, enabling them to develop collective solutions to real- life challenges in their respective fields.
