Implementation of Quality Assurance Tools in the Development of Curricula for Sustainable Learning and Education in HE Development in Benin

About the training:

The project aims to strengthen the capacity of private and public institutions of higher education in Benin (HEIs) to implement quality assurance tools in curriculum development, from labour market analysis to graduates' professional integration, for Sustainable Learning and Education. The training combined theoretical inputs, practical exercises, collaborative learning, peer counselling, mentoring, and institutional project follow-up. Major areas addressed included gender-sensitive institutional self-evaluation, sustainable learning and education, integration of internal and external quality assurance requirements into curricula, curriculum alignment with quality standards, competency-based and student-centred teaching approaches, and development of quality-management procedures and instructional guides. Particular emphasis was placed on the practical application of the CAMES quality assurance framework through curriculum review, self-evaluation, gap analysis, evidence management, and accreditation preparation.

Expected learning outcomes:

By the end of the training, participants should be able to:

  • Use the different training program quality management tools, including PDCA, pedagogical methods, questionnaires, benchmarking and benchlearning, according to different visions and missions of their higher education institution (HEI),
  • Design and conduct questionnaires and evaluations of the labour market according to a scientific method and control process,
  • Apply appropriate techniques and scientific methods to analyse the results obtained from labour market studies and the quality assurance and establish a “quality chain” for curricula development with a follow-up process at all levels of the institution,
  • Develop manuals of procedures and instruction guides in a quality system of higher education institutions,
  • Apply quality assurance requirements in curricula, taking into account external quality assurance,
  • Design and conduct a Project Action Plan on curricula development for their institution by using the basic principles of project management,
  • Apply Sustainable Learning and Education principles to improve the employability of graduates.
