Improving Faculty Management in Challenging Times

About the training:

Aimed at university authorities and higher education management professionals, the training course sought to strengthen leadership and academic management capacities in response to current challenges facing higher education in Bolivia. The training was facilitated by members of the Training Committee, trained through the DIES program, as well as international experts from Spain and Colombia, who contributed specialised knowledge, experiences, and best practices from different higher education contexts. Throughout two in-person modules and follow-up activities, participants addressed topics including academic leadership, strategic planning, educational quality management, internationalisation, research, gender equity, and artificial intelligence. The program combined theoretical content with opportunities for exchange, reflection, and practical application.

Expected learning outcomes:

At the end of the training, participants were expected to strengthen their leadership and academic management skills, acquiring tools for strategic planning, quality assurance, and change management. As part of the process, each participant developed a Strategic Action Plan (SAP) for their respective area, aimed at addressing specific challenges within their institution. In addition, participants strengthened their capacities in internationalisation, research, gender equity, and artificial intelligence.

Target group:

Participants were affiliated with legally established public or private universities in Bolivia and held positions directly related to academic and administrative management in higher education institutions. The training was primarily aimed at deans, vice-deans, and directors.
