Sergio R. Rivera
Vita
Prof. Dr. Sergio R. Rivera (Senior Member, IEEE) received a degree in electrical engineering from the National University of Colombia, in 2001, a Special degree in electrical engineering, in 2004, with an emphasis on distribution systems, and a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Electric Power Institute, Universidad Nacional de San Juan, in 2011. He was a Postdoctoral Associate with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in 2013, and a postdoctoral fellow with the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, in 2014. He was a Professor in power systems and electrical machines at National University, in 2014. His current research interests include the reliability of power systems and electricity markets. He is specifically involved in the coordination and control of smart grids and microgrids using multiagent systems (MAS), and applications of modern heuristic optimization for operation improvement of power systems.
