Andanastuti Muchtar

Professor Dr. Andanastuti Muchtar is a Professor of Advanced Ceramics at the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Built Environment, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She obtained her B.Eng. (Hons) Mech. Eng. from the University of Leeds, UK in 1992 and joined UKM immediately after. She then pursued her PhD at the National University of Singapore and graduated in 1999, upon which she returned to UKM and built her academic career. From October 2007 to September 2008, she spent one year on an academic exchange to the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) funded by the German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD). Subsequently, she was appointed as Head of the UKM International Office at UDE in Duisburg, Germany from 2010 to 2013. She was later appointed as the Director of the UKM Graduate Centre from 2013 until 2019. She is currently active in research and heads the Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Research Group at UKM and is an associate fellow at the Fuel Cell Institute, UKM. Her current research interests also include bio ceramics and dental ceramics. Since 2019, she has been involved as a resource person for one of AKEPT’s flagship higher education leadership training programmes called the International Deans’ Course (Malaysian Chapter).
