Maria Alejandra Guzmán Pardo is a mechanical engineer form Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She obtained a master's degree in industrial automation from the same university and a PhD. in mechanical engineering from Universidade de Sao Paulo, Brazil. In accordance with her teaching career, she obtained a master's degree in Problem-Based Learning in Engineering and Science at Aalborg University. She has been a university professor for 24 years. Currently, she is an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering since 2018. Here areas of interest are bio-inspired optimization, engineering education and gender equity in STEM. She is also the director of the Think Tank on strengthening the leadership and empowerment of Colombian women in STEM of Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
